Robly MCP server

Find Robly contacts and lists; subscribe, update and move contacts between lists. Hosted by usefulapi — connect from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any MCP client.

Claude claude.ai · Desktop

  1. Open Customize → Connectors, then click + Add → Add custom connector.
  2. Enter the name Robly and this URL, then click Add:
    https://robly.usefulapi.io/mcp
  3. Claude opens the login page: enter your Robly API ID and Robly API Key.
  4. In a chat, click + → Connectors and turn on Robly.

Team and Enterprise: an Owner adds the connector for the organization first.

Claude Code

Run this command, then run /mcp in Claude Code to log in:

claude mcp add --transport http robly https://robly.usefulapi.io/mcp

Cursor

Add to Cursor or add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "robly": {
      "url": "https://robly.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

VS Code

Add to VS Code or add this to .vscode/mcp.json:

{
  "servers": {
    "robly": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://robly.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

ChatGPT chatgpt.com

  1. Open Plugins, click +, then Add custom MCP server.
  2. Enter the name Robly and this URL, choose OAuth as the authentication, confirm the warning and create it:
    https://robly.usefulapi.io/mcp
  3. ChatGPT opens the login page: enter your Robly API ID and Robly API Key.
  4. In Plugins, install Robly, then choose it in a chat.

No Add custom MCP server option? It depends on your account or workspace settings: see OpenAI's guide.

Codex

Run these commands. The second one opens the login page:

codex mcp add robly --url https://robly.usefulapi.io/mcp
codex mcp login robly

Other MCP clients (Windsurf, Cline, Zed and more): add the URL as a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP). The client then opens the login page in your browser. Do not add an Authorization header: see Before you connect.

live17 toolsFree 50 tool calls / monthPro $9/mo · $90/yr

Before you connect

The login page asks for your Robly API ID and Robly API Key.

Both are shown in Robly under My Account. If there is no key yet, or you need a new one, email [email protected] from your login address. Use the API ID and key, never your Robly password. They are used only to call the Robly API on your behalf and are never shown to anyone.

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config. The server signs you in with OAuth: the login page asks for your Robly API ID and Robly API Key. If the config has such a header, remove it: some clients then send that header instead of the login token, and every call fails with 401.

Example prompts

Turn on the Robly connector, then ask in plain words. The AI picks the tools.

Tools 17

ToolTypeWhat it does
robly_list_contactsread
List contacts
List contacts (members) of the Robly account, newest first as Robly orders them: id, email, subscribed/deleted flags, subscription date, sign-up source, timestamps. Filter by status, by list, or by last-updated time; optionally include each contact's lists and data fields. Pages with limit (max 100) and offset: pass next_offset from the previous reply. Robly does not return a total. GET /api/v1/contacts/show.
robly_find_contactread
Find contact
Look up one contact by email address or member id: status, subscription date, sign-up source and, on request, the lists and data fields. Returns found: false when Robly has no such contact. GET /api/v1/contacts/search.
robly_check_list_membershipread
Check list membership
Whether one contact (by email or member id) is on one list. GET /api/v1/contacts/exists_in_sub_list.
robly_list_sub_listsread
List sub lists
List the account's sub lists (the lists contacts belong to): id, name, position, timestamps. Public lists only unless include_all is true. Use the ids for list filters and for adding contacts. GET /api/v1/sub_lists/show.
robly_list_fieldsread
List data fields
List the contact data fields (First Name, Last Name, custom fields): id, label, type, required flag and the user_tag that robly_subscribe_contact and robly_update_contact use as the field key. GET /api/v1/fields/show.
robly_get_signup_formread
Get sign-up form
The data fields and sub lists a new subscriber can be given through the sign-up API (public ones unless include_all is true). GET /api/v1/sign_up/show.
robly_subscribe_contactwrite
Subscribe contact
WRITE: add a new subscribed contact (or re-submit an existing one through the sign-up form). With double_opt_in Robly EMAILS the contact a confirmation link first; with welcome_email it EMAILS the welcome message right away; with include_autoresponder it triggers matching autoresponders, which email the contact. Only subscribe people who agreed to receive email. Field values go in `fields`, keyed by the user_tag from robly_list_fields (for example fname, lname). POST /api/v1/sign_up/generate.
robly_add_contact_to_listwrite
Add contact to list
WRITE: put an existing contact on a list. With include_autoresponder Robly triggers autoresponders matching the newly listed contact, which EMAIL the contact. POST /api/v1/contacts/add_sub_list.
robly_remove_contact_from_listwrite
Remove contact from list
WRITE: take a contact off one list (the contact itself is kept). POST /api/v1/contacts/remove_sub_list.
robly_update_contactwrite
Update contact
WRITE: change an existing contact's data fields and/or list memberships in one call. Name the contact by member_id (look it up with robly_find_contact). `fields` are keyed by user_tag (robly_list_fields); the email address cannot be changed here. add_to_list_ids puts the contact on those lists, remove_from_list_ids takes it off them. remove_from_all_other_lists also removes the contact from every list NOT named in add_to_list_ids (requires add_to_list_ids). include_autoresponder triggers autoresponders that EMAIL the contact. POST /api/v1/contacts/update_full_contact.
robly_unsubscribe_contactwrite
Unsubscribe contact
WRITE: unsubscribe a contact so Robly stops emailing it. Robly's API cannot undo this: an unsubscribed contact can only come back through a sign-up form. Use it for a contact that asked to stop. POST /api/v1/contacts/unsubscribe.
robly_create_sub_listwrite
Create sub list
WRITE: create a new, empty sub list. Robly does not say whether a list with the same name already exists, so check robly_list_sub_lists first. POST /api/v1/sub_lists/add_sub_list.
robly_rename_sub_listwrite
Rename sub list
WRITE: rename a sub list. POST /api/v1/sub_lists/rename_sub_list.
robly_usage_statusmeta
Usage status (free-tier meter)
Report the caller's current usage: the plan, calls used this month, the limit of the plan (the free monthly cap or the Pro fair use limit), remaining, and whether the limit is reached. Read-only; does not count against the meter.
robly_request_featuremeta
Request a missing feature
Tell usefulapi that the user needs something the Robly tools cannot do yet (a missing tool, field or filter). Call it only when the user asks for something none of the tools can do, and tell the user that you send the request. Do not call it for errors or for normal requests. Do not include personal data, credentials or customer records. Stored with the product name and the client type (for example Claude or Cursor), without the user's account. At most 5 requests per day. Does not count against the meter.
robly_upgrademeta
Upgrade to Pro (unlimited*)
Get Pro: unlimited tool calls (fair use limit: 10,000 a month) on Robly (the free tier caps monthly usage). Plans: "monthly" — $9/month; "yearly" — $90/year (2 months free). Cancel any time: Pro then runs to the end of the paid period, so it also suits a one-time job. *A fair use limit applies. For heavy use (near Pro's limit): "plus" or "plus_yearly" — Pro+, $19/month or $190/year, unlimited tool calls (fair use limit: 100,000 a month); an existing Pro subscription changes to Pro+ in place (needs confirm: true; the price difference for the rest of the period is charged at once). Otherwise returns a short link to open in your browser (it opens Stripe Checkout); after payment the account upgrades automatically. Does not count against the meter.
robly_cancel_subscriptionmeta
Cancel the Pro subscription
Cancel the caller's Robly Pro subscription at the end of the paid period (no refund for the current period; Pro continues until then, then the free tier applies). Requires confirm: true. Run robly_upgrade later to undo the cancel before the period ends. Does not count against the meter.

FAQ

Is this an official Robly product?

No. usefulapi is an independent service. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Robly. The server calls the Robly API with your own Robly access, so it sees only the data that your account can see.

Can I connect Robly to Claude or ChatGPT?

Yes. In Claude, add this server's URL as a custom connector. In ChatGPT, add it as a custom MCP server in Plugins. Then log in once. Cursor, VS Code, Claude Code and Codex work too. See the setup steps.

What do I need to connect?

The login page asks for your Robly API ID and Robly API Key. See Before you connect for where to find them.

Do I put my Robly key or an Authorization header in the client config?

No. Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config. The server signs you in with OAuth: the login page asks for your Robly API ID and Robly API Key. If the config has such a header, remove it: some clients then send that header instead of the login token, and every call fails with 401.

How do you keep my Robly credentials?

The login stores them encrypted in the authorization grant of your connection. The server uses them to call the Robly API for you and to derive a private account id for usage metering. usefulapi does not show them on any page or in any reply. To stop all access, remove the connector and change or delete these credentials in Robly.

Can the AI change my Robly data?

Yes, if you approve it. 7 of the 13 Robly tools can create or change data. The other 6 are marked read-only. Most MCP clients ask you to approve a tool call before it runs.

What does it cost?

The Free plan gives 50 tool calls / month. Pro costs $9/mo or $90/yr, with unlimited tool calls (fair use limit: 10,000 tool calls a month), for this Robly server only. Cancel any time: Pro then runs to the end of the paid period. Run robly_usage_status to see how many calls you used.

How do I subscribe or cancel?

Ask the AI to run robly_upgrade: it returns a Stripe Checkout link. To cancel, run robly_cancel_subscription. Pro continues to the end of the paid period.

What if a Robly tool that I need is missing?

Tell the AI what you wanted to do. It can send the request with robly_request_feature. We store the text with the server name, the type of AI client and the tool you tried, not with your account, and read every request when we plan new tools. You can send up to 5 requests per day.

Which AI clients can I use?

Any client that supports remote MCP servers (Streamable HTTP) with OAuth login: Claude (web and desktop), Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and others.

This is a Model Context Protocol endpoint — meant to be connected from an AI client, not opened in a browser. An invalid_token response at the URL is the auth gate working as designed; clients authenticate automatically.
