  1. Open Customize → Connectors, then click + Add → Add custom connector.
  2. Enter the name Stuart and this URL, then click Add:
    https://stuart.usefulapi.io/mcp
  3. Claude opens the login page: enter your Environment, API client ID and API client secret.

Add to Cursor or add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "stuart": {

    }
  }
}

ChatGPT chatgpt.com

  1. Open Plugins, click +, then Add custom MCP server.
  2. Enter the name Stuart and this URL, choose OAuth as the authentication, confirm the warning and create it:
    https://stuart.usefulapi.io/mcp
  3. ChatGPT opens the login page: enter your Environment, API client ID and API client secret.
  4. In Plugins, install Stuart, then choose it in a chat.

No Add custom MCP server option? It depends on your account or workspace settings: see OpenAI's guide.

Codex

Run these commands. The second one opens the login page:

codex mcp add stuart --url https://stuart.usefulapi.io/mcp
codex mcp login stuart

Other MCP clients (Windsurf, Cline, Zed and more): add the URL as a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP). The client then opens the login page in your browser. Do not add an Authorization header: see Before you connect.

live19 toolsFree 50 tool calls / monthPro $9/mo · $90/yr

Before you connect

The login page asks for your Environment, API client ID and API client secret.

Find both in the Stuart admin under API credentials (admin.stuart.com for production, admin.sandbox.stuart.com for the sandbox; they are separate). Pick the matching environment below. We exchange the pair for an access token with Stuart; your credentials are used only to call the API on your behalf and are never shown to anyone. Creating a job books a real, charged courier on production: use the sandbox to try things out.

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config. The server signs you in with OAuth: the login page asks for your Environment, API client ID and API client secret. If the config has such a header, remove it: some clients then send that header instead of the login token, and every call fails with 401.

Example prompts

Turn on the Stuart connector, then ask in plain words. The AI picks the tools.

Tools 19

ToolTypeWhat it does
stuart_list_jobsread
List delivery jobs
List the delivery jobs of the last 90 days, newest pickup first, with status, deliveries (tracking URLs, courier proof), driver and pricing. Filter by status, active or your client_reference. Paginated: when a page returns per_page rows, ask for the next page. Stuart: GET /v2/jobs.
stuart_get_jobread
Get a delivery job
One job in full: status, each delivery with tracking URL, pickup/dropoff addresses and contacts, ETA, cancellation, proof of delivery, driver, distance and pricing. Stuart: GET /v2/jobs/{jobId}.
stuart_estimate_priceread
Get a delivery price quote
Price of a job before you create it: amount excluding and including tax, and currency. Nothing is booked. Needs pickup address, dropoff address and package type. Stuart: POST /v2/jobs/pricing.
stuart_validate_jobread
Validate a delivery job
Check that a job would be accepted (addresses geocode inside a covered zone, fields valid) without creating it. Returns {valid}. Stuart: POST /v2/jobs/validate.
stuart_estimate_pickup_etaread
Estimate courier arrival at pickup
Estimated seconds until a courier could arrive at the pickup address, for the same job body as create. Nothing is booked. Stuart: POST /v2/jobs/eta.
stuart_estimate_dropoff_etaread
Estimate time to dropoff
Estimated seconds to reach the destination address for a job (coordinates need the text address too). Nothing is booked. Stuart: POST /v2/jobs/cpt.
stuart_validate_addressread
Validate a pickup or dropoff address
Check that an address can be geocoded and lies inside a Stuart zone, as a pickup (picking) or a dropoff (delivering). A phone number is needed when the address is approximate. Stuart: POST /v2/addresses/validate.
stuart_get_zone_coverageread
Get a zone's coverage area
GeoJSON of the picking or delivery area of an open Stuart zone (for example paris, london). Stuart: GET /v2/areas/{zone}.
stuart_get_zone_schedule_slotsread
Get a zone's scheduling slots
Available time slots (start and end, 15-minute steps) in a zone for a date, from the time of the request onward. Use a future date. Stuart: GET /v2/jobs/schedules/{zone}/{type}/{date}.
stuart_get_courier_phoneread
Get the courier's anonymous phone number
Anonymised phone number of the courier assigned to a delivery. Only works once a courier is assigned; expires when the delivery ends. Stuart: GET /v2/deliveries/{deliveryId}/phone_number.
stuart_create_jobwrite
Create a delivery job (dispatches a courier)
BOOKS A REAL, CHARGED DELIVERY: creates a job with one pickup and 1-8 dropoffs and starts looking for a courier right away (unless pickup_at schedules it: up to 4 days ahead, 30 for corporate accounts). Get a quote with stuart_estimate_price and check with stuart_validate_job first, and confirm with the user. Use the sandbox environment for tests. Stuart: POST /v2/jobs.
stuart_update_jobwrite
Update delivery details
Change allowed details of a delivery in a job: client_reference, package_description, and the pickup/dropoff comment and contact (what is editable depends on the delivery status: once delivered only client_reference). Stuart: PATCH /v2/jobs/{jobId}.
stuart_cancel_jobwrite
Cancel a delivery job
Cancels a whole job and all its deliveries. Stuart may charge a cancellation fee once a courier is on the way; confirm with the user first. Give a reason key for reporting. Stuart: POST /v2/jobs/{jobId}/cancel.
stuart_cancel_deliverywrite
Cancel one delivery
Cancels a single delivery (one dropoff) of a multi-drop job. A cancellation fee may apply; confirm with the user first. Stuart: POST /v2/deliveries/{deliveryId}/cancel.
stuart_mark_order_readywrite
Signal that an order is ready for pickup
Tell Stuart the order is packed and ready for the courier to collect. Pass exactly one of job_id (all orders of the job) or delivery_id (one order). Send it only when the order is really ready. Stuart: POST /v2/jobs/{jobId}/order_ready or /v2/deliveries/{deliveryId}/order_ready.
stuart_usage_statusmeta
Usage status (free-tier meter)
Report the caller's current usage: the plan, calls used this month, the limit of the plan (the free monthly cap or the Pro fair use limit), remaining, and whether the limit is reached. Read-only; does not count against the meter.
stuart_request_featuremeta
Request a missing feature
Tell usefulapi that the user needs something the Stuart tools cannot do yet (a missing tool, field or filter). Call it only when the user asks for something none of the tools can do, and tell the user that you send the request. Do not call it for errors or for normal requests. Do not include personal data, credentials or customer records. Stored with the product name and the client type (for example Claude or Cursor), without the user's account. At most 5 requests per day. Does not count against the meter.
stuart_upgrademeta
Upgrade to Pro (unlimited*)
Get Pro: unlimited tool calls (fair use limit: 10,000 a month) on Stuart (the free tier caps monthly usage). Plans: "monthly" — $9/month; "yearly" — $90/year (2 months free). Cancel any time: Pro then runs to the end of the paid period, so it also suits a one-time job. *A fair use limit applies. For heavy use (near Pro's limit): "plus" or "plus_yearly" — Pro+, $19/month or $190/year, unlimited tool calls (fair use limit: 100,000 a month); an existing Pro subscription changes to Pro+ in place (needs confirm: true; the price difference for the rest of the period is charged at once). Otherwise returns a short link to open in your browser (it opens Stripe Checkout); after payment the account upgrades automatically. Does not count against the meter.
stuart_cancel_subscriptionmeta
Cancel the Pro subscription
Cancel the caller's Stuart Pro subscription at the end of the paid period (no refund for the current period; Pro continues until then, then the free tier applies). Requires confirm: true. Run stuart_upgrade later to undo the cancel before the period ends. Does not count against the meter.

FAQ

Is this an official Stuart product?

No. usefulapi is an independent service. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Stuart. The server calls the Stuart API with your own Stuart access, so it sees only the data that your account can see.

Can I connect Stuart to Claude or ChatGPT?

Yes. In Claude, add this server's URL as a custom connector. In ChatGPT, add it as a custom MCP server in Plugins. Then log in once. Cursor, VS Code, Claude Code and Codex work too. See the setup steps.

What do I need to connect?

The login page asks for your Environment, API client ID and API client secret. See Before you connect for where to find them.

Do I put my Stuart key or an Authorization header in the client config?

No. Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config. The server signs you in with OAuth: the login page asks for your Environment, API client ID and API client secret. If the config has such a header, remove it: some clients then send that header instead of the login token, and every call fails with 401.

How do you keep my Stuart credentials?

The login stores them encrypted in the authorization grant of your connection. The server uses them to call the Stuart API for you and to derive a private account id for usage metering. usefulapi does not show them on any page or in any reply. To stop all access, remove the connector and change or delete these credentials in Stuart.

Can the AI change my Stuart data?

Yes, if you approve it. 5 of the 15 Stuart tools can create or change data. The other 10 are marked read-only. Most MCP clients ask you to approve a tool call before it runs.

What does it cost?

The Free plan gives 50 tool calls / month. Pro costs $9/mo or $90/yr, with unlimited tool calls (fair use limit: 10,000 tool calls a month), for this Stuart server only. Cancel any time: Pro then runs to the end of the paid period. Run stuart_usage_status to see how many calls you used.

How do I subscribe or cancel?

Ask the AI to run stuart_upgrade: it returns a Stripe Checkout link. To cancel, run stuart_cancel_subscription. Pro continues to the end of the paid period.

What if a Stuart tool that I need is missing?

Tell the AI what you wanted to do. It can send the request with stuart_request_feature. We store the text with the server name, the type of AI client and the tool you tried, not with your account, and read every request when we plan new tools. You can send up to 5 requests per day.

Which AI clients can I use?

Any client that supports remote MCP servers (Streamable HTTP) with OAuth login: Claude (web and desktop), Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and others.

This is a Model Context Protocol endpoint — meant to be connected from an AI client, not opened in a browser. An invalid_token response at the URL is the auth gate working as designed; clients authenticate automatically.
